Beads, vintage textiles, rubber, ribbon
The inspiration for these pieces i’ve found in one of my favorite childhood pastimes:
1. filling a sheet of paper with patches of as many colors as possible by drawing on it with wax crayons
2. then covering the whole page with a thick layer of black crayon
3. create magical “drawings” in the black by scratching lines and forms away and so revealing the hidden color again
The beads are embroidered on textile pieces from my own discarded clothing and the whole is covered with a rubber coating. The black layer might wear off in time, the lustrous color will re-appear and “another” piece of jewelry comes to existence.
