Jewels are easy to lose, but the memories attached to them can hold an indescribable value.
Clasps, pins, brooches are quiet guardians of what we hold dear. And rightly so. To lose a treasured piece is to feel a sudden emptiness, a quiet despair. And yet, while we accept the grasp of metal, we recoil at the human kind. Clinging lovers, needy friends are often seen as burdens: too close, too much.
So why is it that vines and vetchlings remain symbols of friendship, interconnectedness, and eternal life? Like humans clutching their adornments, these curly-growing, snake-like tendrils reach out to attach themselves to something stronger.
Tendrils, spirals, curlicues, and snakes are familiar motifs in jewelry. Once rich in meaning, these once-legible symbols are now often replicated, trivialized, and kitschified. Thist is precisely this paradox that forms the foundation of the collection VINES.
